Results, Recalls and Reminders

To facilitate safe and high-quality care, systems and processes are in place at Mona Vale Doctors to ensure that pathology, radiology and other investigations are acted upon and results communicated in a timely manner.

Your doctor will generally advise you during your appointment about how this will be done.

Notification of Results

Your results will be reviewed by your doctoR

Your doctor will determine if your results:


  • Require no further action,

  • Are non-urgent but require follow up,

  • Urgently require follow up

Once your doctor has reviewed all of your test results


You will receive a secure SMS notifying you if you need to return to see your doctor for a non-urgent appointment

If your doctor has not requested a follow-up consultation and you are still experiencing symptoms, or have further questions or concerns, please make an appointment with your doctor for further review.

Request a copy of your test results

There are several ways in which you can obtain a copy of your results.

  • If you have opted in for My Health Record, your pathology results should automatically be available to you seven days after your tests have been finalised. Only pathology results are available in My Health Record, radiology results can be obtained directly from your radiologist.

  • If you require results urgently and the alternative options are unsuitable, please book a face-to-face or telehealth consultation or with your GP to obtain your results during a consultation.

  • If you would like a copy of your results to take to a specialist appointment, consider asking your specialist’s rooms to request your results directly from the pathology or radiology provider e.g., Douglass Hanly Moir, Laverty, Australian Clinical Labs, PRP Imaging, Ultrasound Care etc.

  • Our receptionists may be able to assist you with obtaining a copy of your results after you have seen your doctor. This is to ensure that results are interpreted correctly and any necessary follow up is arranged.

Recalls and Reminders

We are committed to following up any health concerns and reminding you regarding preventative care. From time to time, you may be contacted via our automated SMS system in relation to test results, repeat tests, important review appointments with your GP or specialist, immunisations and routine health screening.
